Ethical Policy of International Center for Intelligent Research

Ethical policy of International Center for Intelligent Research is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and complies with International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) codes of conduct. statements confirm that confidentiality and fairness should be considered in all the ICIR procedures and interactions. Readers, authors, reviewers and editors should follow these ethical policies once working with International Center for Intelligent Research.

Editorial-Open Access Policy

International Center for Intelligent Research provides publishing services for peer-reviewed, online and print-plus-online journals in medicine. ICIR operates the Open access model of publishing services, providing unrestricted online access to peer-reviewed scholarly research. Abstracts and full texts (PDF format) of all articles published by ICIR are freely accessible to everyone immediately upon publication. International Center for Intelligent Research provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. The Journal is an open access journal; individuals can freely access, read, save, copy, scan, link the entire text, index, transfer the published content into software’s and use the published content for all legal purposes. The contents of all journals are open to access in line with the policy of Budapest Open Access Initiative for developing, supporting and extending the science. If the purpose is scientific citations, other than commercial purposes, the contents of all journals can be used by the license of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC). For the use of commercial purposes, individuals need to take written permission from the journal. The journal has article processing charges (APCs) and/or submission charges. The contents of all ICIR Journals are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.

Peer Review Process

When the submitted articles arrived to the ICIR journals, one of the Editors read each manuscript. Editors have to decided first decision very quickly. We aim to reach a first decision on all manuscripts within one or two weeks of submission. During the first decision, journal editors mainly check: does the manuscript fit the journals scope and aim and minimum acceptable quality? Is the manuscript compliant with the journals instructions for author? Editor decides whether or not to send it for full peer review. If a paper is rejected without external review, authors are notified electronically on decision time by email. We retain copies of rejected manuscripts for three months, after which we delete them from our system. Only after clearing the initial screening is the manuscript sent to peer reviewers. Minimum of two peer reviewers are selected for peer-review process. Names of reviewers and authors are not revealed to each other. We ask authors to declare potential conflicts of interest any of the reviewers. The final decision concerning the manuscript is made during the regular Editorial meeting. All the evaluation reports from the reviewers are reviewed and final decision is reached on the base of originality, quality, importance, scientific merit and ethical issues of the article. All authors are asked to submit any conflict of interest and complete and sign the Copyright Release Form. We send the reviewers’ comments to authors whether or not we accept the article. Linguistic corrections are made by the native English language editors when we think that it is acceptable.

Policy statement – Conflict of Interest

Authors publishing articles in journals published by International Center for Intelligent Research must declare all financial disclosures and conflicts of interest in the cover letter and on the title page of manuscripts submitted for publication. All submitted manuscripts must include a ‘competing interests’ section at the end of the manuscript listing all competing interests (financial and non-financial). Where authors have no competing interests, the statement should read “The authors have declared that no competing interests exist.” Editors may ask for further information relating to competing interests. Editors and reviewers are also required to declare any competing interests and will be excluded from the peer review process if a competing interest exists.

Policy statement – Human and Animal Rights

All studies submitted to International Center for Intelligent Research for publication must be in compliance with institutional and international regulations for human and animal studies such as the Helsinki declaration. Human studies require ethics committee approval and informed consent which must be documented in your manuscript. Animal studies require ethics committee approval and must conform to international guidelines for animal research. Compliance with these requirements must be documented in your manuscript. Experimental research on vertebrates or any regulated invertebrates must comply with institutional, national, or international guidelines, and where available should have been approved by an appropriate ethics committee. A statement detailing compliance with guidelines and/or ethical approval must be included in the manuscript. For studies involving client-owned animals, authors must document informed client consent and adherence to a high standard (best practice) of veterinary care. If a study has been granted an exemption from requiring ethics approval, this should also be detailed in the manuscript (including the name of the ethics committee that granted the exemption). Further information and documentation to support this should be made available to Editors on request. Manuscripts may be rejected if the Editor considers that the research has not been carried out within an appropriate ethical framework. In rare cases, Editors may contact the ethics committee for further information.

Policy statement – Informed Consent

All human studies submitted for publication in International Center for Intelligent Research require informed consent and ethics committee approval. If waiver of consent was granted by the ethics committee in the case of retrospective studies not impacting on patient confidentiality or patient rights, this must be clearly stated in the cover letter and manuscript. For all research involving human subjects, informed consent to participate in the study should be obtained from participants (or their parent or guardian in the case of children under 16) and a statement to this effect should appear in the manuscript. For all manuscripts that include details, images, or videos relating to individual participants, written informed consent for the publication of these must be obtained from the participants (or their parent or legal guardian in the case of children under 16) and a statement to this effect should appear in the manuscript. If the participant has died, then consent for publication must be sought from the next of kin of the participant. This documentation must be made available to Editors on request, and will be treated confidentially. In cases where images are entirely unidentifiable and there are no details on individuals reported within the manuscript, consent for publication of images may not be required. The final decision on whether consent to publish is required lies with the Editor.


International Center for Intelligent Research verifies the originality of submitted manuscripts through plagiarism software. ICIR journals routinely verify the originality of content submitted using Similarity Check (powered by iThenticate) to check submissions against previous publications. If a large amount of text is found to be plagiarized, then the manuscript is subject to rejection. But in case of minor plagiarism where author makes unattributed usage of few phrases of standard methods description or parts of introduction from a previously published paper, the editor contacts author and raises concerns regarding plagiarized material. The decision regarding rejection or consideration of article would be made after receiving the article with proper attributions and corrections. If plagiarism is found after publication, the journal conducts required investigation and contacts author for any minor corrections. If major plagiarism is found in the published article, the journal retracts the paper and informs the same to all authors and/or author’s institution and/or funding agencies. The Plagiarism is a serious ethical offense and is subject to sanctions like penalties, suspension, and even expulsion.

Data Fabrication and Data Falsification

Data fabrication is the practice of inventing data or results, making up the data and recording and/or reporting them in the research record. Data falsification is the manipulation of research data with the intention of giving a false impression. These include modifying images, omitting conflicting data or inconvenient results, changing, adding or removing data points, selective reporting of research findings etc.

International Center for Intelligent Research is strictly against to data fabrication and data manipulation. They represent serious issues in scientific ethics, diluting and undermining the integrity of scientific literature. Both these schemes challenge the credibility of everyone and everything involved in a research effort. They lead others to erroneous conclusions that may have adverse consequences for patients in clinical research and clinical practice. It could waste other researcher’s time, effort, resources and energies attempting to replicate or build on the data presented in a falsified paper. With regard to images, International Center for Intelligent Research accepts the improvement of images for better readability such as adjusting the contrast and/or brightness or color balance but only when the usage of the images are properly acknowledged to the author of the original image. The technical manipulation of the image such as removing or adding new elements into the image, is considered as data fabrication and the journal does not accept such image manipulations. If data fabrication or data falsification is found, the editors may return the paper without review, announces the issue publicly in an editorial, bans the author from submitting articles in this journal, and/or contact the authors’ employers/academic institution.


International Center for Intelligent Research keeps all details of a submitted manuscript confidential and do not comment or publicize about manuscripts while they are under consideration or when they are rejected. The editors and reviewers themselves are not allowed to discuss or reveal the data of the manuscripts and any associated supplementary material before its publication. They are not allowed to use knowledge that they have gained from an unpublished article to further their own interests. However, they are free to discuss the data once the article is published. The comments and feedback of the reviewers will not be published and the identity of the reviewers will remain anonymous. Reviewers are not permitted to share the manuscript with lab members as a whole or with colleagues outside of the lab for reviewing purposes. If the reviewer wishes to review an article along with a junior member of their laboratory, the reviewer must get approval from the editor. The junior member must be named as a co-reviewer and the same rules of confidentiality and publishing ethics will be applied to the co-reviewer.

Instruction for Authors


GMJ Medical Press provides publishing services for peer-reviewed, online and print-plus-online journals in medicine. GMJ operates the Open access model of publishing services, providing unrestricted online access to peer-reviewed scholarly research. GMJ is the brand name of the International Center for Intelligent Research to publishing of medical journals in Georgia. All articles submitted to GMJ Journals should be original in nature, never previously published in any journal or presented in a conference or undergoing such process across the globe. All the submissions will be peer-reviewed by the panel of experts associated with particular field. Submitted papers should meet the internationally accepted criteria and manuscripts should follow the style of the GMJ Journals for the purpose of both reviewing and editing.

GMJ Medical Press publishes diverse categories of articles. All types of articles are subject to peer-review. The GMJ Medical Press publishes the following types of contribution:

GMJ Article Types:


Editorials are the message of the GMJ Journals and are written in-house by the journal's Editorial Board members. Editorials are preferably no more than 3000 words. An unstructured abstract is required for these types of articles.

Review Article

These articles consist of Systematic Review, Meta-analysis, Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis, Meta-Synthesis, Scoping Review, Literature Review, and Narrative Review. These articles may be up to 7000 words excluding abstract, tables, and references. Inclusion and exclusion criteria for studies should be described in a flow diagram. The specific type of study or analysis, intervention, population, exposure, outcomes or tests should be described for each data source or article. Authors are to clearly cover the following topics in the method section: search strategy and selection criteria, data extraction, quality assessment, and data analysis. A structured abstract is required that should include: Background; Methods and Analysis; Discussion; Registry and number (if the protocol of these articles had been registered in a registry system). For these articles authors need to complete and include a PRISMA-P checklist (please find it from here) and upload as a supplementary file. Authors must ensure that all points are included and state page numbers where each item can be found.

Original Article

These articles must be of primary research, methodologically accurate, and relevant to GMJ Journals. They should contain no more than 7000 words excluding structured abstract, tables, and references. Each manuscript should clearly state an objective or hypothesis; the design of study and methodology (including study setting, patients or participants, inclusion and exclusion criteria, sampling and data source); data analysis and interpretations; the main results of the study, discussing the results; addressing study limitations and the conclusion. For all original articles, a structured abstract is required. All original articles are required to have Key Messages as research highlights that provided in one paragraph in title page. Only original articles require Key Messages.

Short Communication

communications are short articles (mini original articles) that present original and important preliminary findings that do not warrant publication as a full-length article but are still worthy of publication. Short communications should have an un-structured abstract and should not be more than 4000 words including references and up to three tables or figures. The main text should be sub-divided into background, methods, results, and discussion, but should be written as concisely as possible. To maintain brevity, these articles do not need key messages.

Letter to Editor

We welcome short letters with topics of interest to the GMJ Journals readership. These letters should not exceed 1000 words including only one table or figure, references and the main text. No abstract is required for these articles.

Ethics in Publishing

GMJ Publishing follows the guidelines of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), for information on this matter in publishing and ethical guidelines please visit COPE.

Please note that any submission that has data collected from human subjects requires ethics approval. In this case, a clear statement to this effect must be made in any submitted manuscript presenting such research, specifying that the free and informed consent of the subjects was obtained. If your manuscript does not include ethics approval, your article will not be sent out for review. For qualitative articles it is mandatory that the following general principles be considered when submitting your manuscript.

Details of formal ethical approval should be stated in the main body of the article. If authors were not required to obtain ethical approval (as is the case in some countries) or unable to obtain attain ethical approval (as sometimes occurs in resource-poor settings) they should explain this. Please anonymize this information as appropriate in the manuscript, and give the information when asked during submission.

Procedures for securing informed consent should be provided.

- Responsibilities of authors:

Permission to use or publish an institution data: If you wish to publish the data/information of an institution, you should seek the institution permission and provide us with the signed permission once we ask for this. During submission you should inform us if you have obtained such permission.

Using Website information: Most materials on the Internet are protected by copyright. In such case you need to obtain permission from the website which owns the copyright. Some website materials, however, may not be original to the website and you need to identify the right-holder and seek permission.

- Informed consent

According to ICMJE guidelines patients or, in general research, participants have a right to privacy that should not be infringed without informed consent. Identifying information, including patients' names, initials, or hospital numbers, should not be published in written descriptions, photographs, and pedigrees unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient (or parent or guardian) gives written informed consent for publication. Informed consent for this purpose requires that a patient who is identifiable be shown the manuscript to be published. Authors should identify individuals who provide writing assistance and disclose the funding source for this assistance.

- Conflict of interest

According to ICMJE guidelines, a conflict of interest may exist when an author (or the author’s institution), reviewer or editor has personal or financial relationships that influence (bias) inappropriately his/her action (such relationships are also known as dual commitments, competing interests, or competing loyalties). These relationships vary from those with negligible potential to those with great potential to influence judgment, and not all relationships represent true conflict of interest. The potential for conflict of interest can exist whether or not an individual believes that the relationship affects his or her scientific judgment. Financial relationships (such as employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony) are the most easily identifiable conflicts of interest and the most likely to undermine the credibility of the journal, the authors, and of science itself. However, conflicts can occur for other reasons, such as personal relationships, academic competition, and intellectual passion. Authors must make sure that they have declared any actual or potential conflicts of interest in their manuscript when submitting their work (if any). The corresponding author is responsible for confirming with the co-authors whether they have any conflicts to be declared or not (For further information please visit ICMJE).


GMJ Medical Press uses the Crosscheck iThenticate Plagiarism detector to screen submitted manuscripts for originality. Using this service, we can detect if a manuscript contains passages of text that appear in other publications or resources. Crosscheck is an initiative between iThenticate and CrossRef®, a not-for-profit membership association of publishers, established to help publishers prevent professional plagiarism and other forms of scholarly misconduct. GMJ supports the Open Access initiative. Abstracts and full texts (PDF format) of all articles published by Medical Press are freely accessible to everyone immediately upon publication. Language (usage and editing services)

All publications in the GMJ are in English. Authors whose first language is not English should make sure their manuscript is written in idiomatic English before submission. Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). GMJ Medical Press providing the language and copy-editing services to all articles. Authors who feel their manuscript may require editing to eliminate possible grammatical or spelling errors are encouraged to obtain such services prior to submission. Authors are responsible for all costs associated with such services.

Submission Declaration and Verification

By submitting an article, you ensure that your work has not been published previously, except in the form of a conference abstract or as part of a published lecture or thesis for an academic qualification. This implies that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere and its publication is approved by all authors and responsible authorities where the work was carried out. It is highly important that if an acceptance is offered, your work will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other languages, including electronically without the written consent of the GMJ Medical Press as the copyright-holder. Authors should not submit the same manuscript, in the same or different languages, simultaneously to more than one journal (For further information please visit ICMJE Recommendation).

Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them closely to ensure that the review and publication of your article is as efficient and quick as possible. The editorial office reserves the rights to return manuscripts that are not in accordance with the GMJ instructions for authors. Once you have prepared your manuscript according to the instructions below, you can then submit your work via our online submission form. During the submission procedure, authors are asked to provide: a) a statement that the manuscript has been read and approved by all authors; b) the name, affiliation, postal address, email address, telephone or fax number of the corresponding author who is responsible for negotiations concerning the manuscript; c) first and last name, email address and affiliation are also required for all contributing authors. Only those authors that their complete information has been submitted will be named in article's homepage once accepted. Once the manuscript is submitted, the corresponding author will receive an acknowledgement notification.

Manuscript File Format

Acceptable manuscripts' file formats include Microsoft Word and WordPerfect. Do not submit your manuscripts in PDF format.

Text Style Guideline

Use A4 size. Text should be left-justified. Use 12-point font size. Use preferably Times and New Romans font. Use 1.5 line spacing. Use line and page number. Use Initial Upper Case for Title, Headings and Subheadings, Keywords, Affiliations, and Authors’ Name. Make the titles, headings and subheadings bold or use different color.

Preparing Title Page and Main Manuscript:

Title Page

The title page should contain the following components:

  • Manuscript Title: please keep it as precise and concise as possible and ensure it reflects the subject matter
  • Corresponding author's name, qualification, affiliation, telephone number, and email address
  • Each author's affiliation, email address, and qualifications
  • Use 3 to 6 keywords to describe your manuscripts subject
  • Acknowledgements: in this section, all sources of funding for research must be explicitly stated, including grant numbers if appropriate. Other financial and material support, specifying the nature of the support, should be acknowledged as well.
  • Authors' contributions: in this section, you must specify explicitly who did what based on the substantive intellectual contribution made to the article. It should be noted that any changes should be made by completing the Change of Authorship Form before an acceptance is granted on the manuscript.
  • Conflict of interest: if your work is sponsored by a funder with a proprietary or financial interest in the outcome, please clearly state this in your title page.
  • Ethical issues: if your manuscript is an original article you should name the ethics committee that has approved the study.
  • A word count of the full article

Important Note: While submitting your manuscript please bear in mind to upload the Authorship From as well (this form must be completed by corresponding author and signed by all authors).

Main Manuscript Components

The manuscript should follow through these sections: Abstract (no more than 350 words), Key Messages (only for Original Articles), Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. However, it may be appropriate to combine the discussion and conclusion sections in some articles. Tables and Figures should be inserted within the text as close as possible to where they are referenced. Authors should not upload them as separate files. Please add page numbers and line numbers for your manuscript.

- Abstract

Include a structured abstract of no more than 350 words for original articles and reviews. An abstract is often presented separately from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. It should state briefly and clearly the purpose and setting of the research, the principal findings and major conclusions, and the article's contribution to knowledge. Abstracts should be prepared in GMJ style including background, methods, results and conclusion. For other manuscripts, include an unstructured manuscript of no more than 300 words that summarizes the objectives and background, main points and conclusions of the article. Abstracts are not required for correspondence, and letters to editors.

- Keywords

Authors need to add up to 5 keywords separately into the online system during submission, and should accurately reflect the content of the article. Abbreviations/acronyms could be used with their expansions. The keywords will be used for indexing purposes. Please prepare the keywords according to the following instructions:

  • 3-5 Keywords (single or phrases with no more than 3 words)
  • Contain words and phrases that suggest what the topic is about
  • Use variants terms or phrases that readers are likely to use
  • If the article focuses on a particular region (geographic, climatic, etc.), use that as a keyword
  • Use specific phenomena or issues as keywords (climate change, air pollution, etc.)

- Tables

  • Should be prepared left to right and cell-based (i.e., created in Word with the Tables tool).
  • Table number and caption always appear above the table. Leave 2 line spaces between the table and the caption.
  • Should be editable and upright on the page, not on sideways.
  • Should be prepared with real rows and columns and not aligned with tabs, returns, or spaces.
  • Multi-part tables with varying numbers of columns or multiple footnotes should be organized as separate tables.
  • Should be plain with NO colors, shading, or graphics.
  • Should not contain inserted text boxes, tables within tables or cells within cells.
  • Should be cited in numerical order upon their first mention.
  • Symbols and abbreviations should be defined immediately below the table, followed by essential brief description.
  • All tables should be inserted within the text as close as possible to where they are referenced. Authors should not upload them as separate files.

- Figures/illustrations

  • All figures/images must be cited within the main text in numerical order.
  • All figures/images must be centered. Figure number and legend always appear below the figure. Leave 2 line spaces between the figure and the legend.
  • Figures must be prepared in one of the following formats: Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) for photography or microscopy, Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) for illustrations or diagrams, Tagged Image File Format (TIFF), EPS, or PS. Files prepared with Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw or Adobe Photoshop should be uploaded in these native file formats.
  • All digitized images must be of high quality; that is, resolutions of at least 300 dpi for color figures, 600 dpi for greyscales and 1200 dpi for line arts.
  • Histograms should be prepared in a simple, two-dimensional format, with no background grid.
  • Make sure that any specific patient/hospital details are removed or blacked out (e.g., X-rays, MRI scans, etc).
  • If photographs of patients are used, they should not be identifiable. However, do not use a black bar to obscure a patient’s identity.
  • Original data from which the images were prepared should be available, as the editors may request to see these data (e.g., Office, SPSS and other line art images).
  • Lettering in figures (e.g., labeling of axes) should be in lower-case type, with the first letter capitalized and no full stop. All text should be in a sans-serif typeface, preferably Arial with size 8 pt.
  • Avoid using the touch-up tools, such as cloning and healing tools in Photoshop, or any feature that deliberately obscures manipulations.
  • Graphics downloaded from Web pages should not be used.
  • Please remember that Vector drawing data is absent from these files: png, jpeg, tiff, or bmp. Subsequently resaving any of these files as a PDF or EPS will not produce a vector drawing in these files. Please supply the original EPS, ai, or PDF file versions of artwork.
  • Figures/images should be inserted within the text as close as possible to where they are referenced. Authors should not upload them as separate files.

Acceptable digital formats are:

  1. Corel Draw
  2. Adobe Illustrator
  3. Unlocked PDFs created from a vector program
  4. Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word as long as graphs are not placed into these programs as rasterized images

- References

  • Arrange references as a simple list at the end of your manuscript based on our EndNote style which is downloadable through GMJ EndNote Style.
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of cited references and these should be checked before the manuscript is submitted.
  • Only one publication can be listed for each number.
  • Published conference abstracts, numbered patents and preprints on recognized servers may be included in reference lists, but text, grant details and acknowledgements may not citing in the text.
  • Cite references in the text, tables, or figures in consecutively numerical order by means of superscript Arabic numerals. It is acceptable for a reference to be cited only in a table or a figure legend and not in the text if it is in sequence with references cited in text.
  • Use Arabic superscript numerals outside periods and commas, inside colons and semicolons.
  • Two references are cited with a comma and no space. Three or more consecutive references are cited in a range with dashes.
  • References in tables, figures, and panels should be in numerical order according to where the item is cited in the text.
  • Please note that if references are not cited in order the manuscript may be returned for amendment before it is passed on to the Editor for assessment.
  • Only articles published or in press should be included in the reference list. Personal communications or unpublished data must be cited in parentheses in the text with the name(s) of the source(s) and the year. Authors should request permission from the source to cite unpublished data.

In reference list:

List the surnames and initials of first names of all authors if there are 6 or fewer; otherwise list the first 3 and add ‘et al.’ Use one space only between words up to the year and then no spaces. The journal title should be in italic and abbreviated according to the style of PubMed. If the journal is not listed in PubMed, then it should be written out in full. Check journal abbreviations using PubMed.

General rules from the 10th edition of AMA

  • Items are listed numerically in the order they are cited in the text.
  • Include up to 6 authors.
  • For more than six, provide the names of the first three authors and then add et al.
  • If there is no author, start with the title.

- Abbreviations and Symbols

Use only standard abbreviations; use of nonstandard abbreviations can be confusing to readers. Avoid abbreviations in the title of the manuscript. The spelled-out abbreviation followed by the abbreviation in parenthesis should be used on first mention unless the abbreviation is a standard unit of measurement (For further information please visit ICMJE Recommendation).


All contributing authors should qualify for authorship. The order of authorship should be a joint decision of the co-authors. Sufficient participation in the work is of utmost importance (please see the Authorship Form). Authorship credit should be based on substantial contribution to conception and design, execution, or analysis and interpretation of data. All authors should be involved in drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content, must have read and approved the final version of the manuscript and approve of its submission to this journal. Any change in authorship following initial submission would have to be agreed by all authors as would any change in the order of authors (For further information please visit ICMJE).

Important Note: The Authorship Form should be signed by ALL AUTHORS.

- Changes to authorship

This statement concerns the addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names in the authorship of submitted manuscripts as described in below:

After the manuscript is submitted or accepted for publication, the corresponding author is required to send a request to add or remove an author, or to rearrange the author names of the submitted/accepted manuscript and must include: (a) the reason the name should be added or removed, or the author names rearranged and (b) signed GMJ Change to Authorship Form by all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. Requests that are not sent by the corresponding author will be forwarded by the Journal Managing Editor to the corresponding author, who must follow the procedure as described above. No authorship change is allowed after publication of manuscript.

Funding Source

Authors are requested to clearly identify who provided financial support for the conduct of research and/or preparation of the article and briefly describe the role of the funder/sponsor in any part of the work including design and conduct of the study, data collection, data management, data analysis and interpretation, preparation, review and approval of the manuscript. The following rules should be followed:

-The sentence should begin with: ‘This work was supported by …’.

-The full official funding agency name should be given, i.e. ‘the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health’.

-Grant numbers should be complete and accurate and provided in brackets as follows: ‘[grant number ABX CDXXXXXX]’

-Multiple grant numbers should be separated by a comma as follows: ‘[grant numbers ABX CDXXXXXX, EFX GHXXXXXX]’

These should be checked immediately and corrections, as well as answers to any queries, returned to the journal as an annotated PDF via email within 3-5 working days (further details are supplied with the proof). We will do everything possible to get your article published quickly and accurately. Therefore, it is important to ensure that all of your corrections are sent back to us in one communication. Please note that rephrasing sentences, additions, or omissions are not allowed at the proof stage.

Important Note: Authors should approve the PDF Proof and provide us with the corrections in due time. Not meeting the deadline and a long delay to respond could lead to withdraw of manuscript at this stage.
